Muscat – Under Ministerial Resolution No. 236/2025, the import of live birds, their products, derivatives, and offal from the province of Santarém in the Republic of Portugal is now banned. The decision was made based on recommendations from the competent veterinary authority and in accordance with the Veterinary Quarantine Law (Royal Decree No. 45/2004) and its executive regulations.

The ministry clarified that the ban will remain in place until the underlying health concern is resolved and an official decision is issued to lift it. However, an exception is made for products and derivatives that have undergone heat treatment or preparation in line with international standards set by the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH).

Similarly, Ministerial Resolution No. 235/2025 prohibits the import of certain species of live animals, their products, derivatives, and offal from Beheira Governorate in the Arab Republic of Egypt, based on similar health precautions.
