Here’s how UAE expats can gain quick entry with Oman’s visa on arrival or eVisa options

Whether for work, family visits, or leisure in hotspots like Musandam and Salalah, residents of the UAE can secure an unsponsored visa on arrival or a GCC resident eVisa.

MUSCAT : Oman currently offers two visa pathways for UAE expats:

Visa on Arrival: Available at Muscat International Airport and land borders.

GCC Resident eVisa: Applied online via the Royal Oman Police (ROP) platform: evisa.rop.gov.om.
Both options are valid for 28 days and cost RO 5 (AED 47.76). Travellers must present their Emirates ID and a passport valid for at least six months. At land borders, a UAE exit fee of Dh35 also applies.

Who is eligible?

Eligibility is tied directly to one’s occupation. The Emirates ID, which carries the official job title, must match one of the professions approved by Omani authorities. These include high-demand roles such as:

If your job does not fall under the approved list, the only option is to apply for a sponsored visit visa through a travel agent, Oman Embassy, or a family member residing in Oman.

For those who prefer to sort paperwork in advance, the eVisa process is straightforward:

Create an account on the ROP eVisa platform and verify via email OTP.

Select visa category under “Unsponsored Visa” → “GCC Resident Visa.”
Complete the form with personal and passport details.
Upload documents, including a UAE residence visa, Emirates ID, passport photo, and passport copy.
Submit and review before final confirmation.
Make payment once approval is granted.
Processing typically takes four to five working days, though it may vary depending on individual cases.
