Dubai: The deals, part of Dubai’s ambitious Cashless Strategy, aim to ensure that more than 90% of all payments across both government and private sectors are fully digital by the end of 2026.

Both airlines signed separate Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Dubai Finance to simplify and promote secure cashless payments for tourists. From booking flights to exploring attractions, travelers will now have access to seamless digital payment options through Emirates and flydubai websites and apps.

The collaboration also includes campaigns to educate international visitors on Dubai’s expanding cashless ecosystem, encouraging the use of cards, mobile wallets, and other secure options across shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues.

Emirates, already equipped with multiple online gateways and a digitized loyalty program, is also exploring cryptocurrency acceptance. flydubai, meanwhile, is expanding its mobile money solutions, especially for travelers from African markets, with plans to extend similar capabilities to other regions.

Tourists can expect greater convenience and security, while Dubai Duty Free and other outlets prepare to roll out advanced payment options, including contactless and potential future crypto-based transactions.

Launched in 2024, Dubai’s Cashless Strategy is projected to add more than AED 8 billion annually to the emirate’s economy.
