MUSCAT – In its statement, the Ministry extended its thanks and appreciation to fishermen and transporters for their cooperation and commitment during the previous ban period on the fishing and trading of sharks. The Ministry emphasised the importance of adhering strictly to the designated fishing period and complying with regulations to ensure the long-term sustainability of lobster populations.
It also reiterated that only the use of Lobster cages, the method approved by the Ministry, is permitted during the season. This measure is part of broader efforts to preserve Oman’s marine biodiversity and protect this vital resource for future generations.
Fishermen and stakeholders are urged to follow the guidelines set forth, as the Ministry continues its work in promoting responsible and sustainable fishing practices across the Sultanate.
