MUSCAT : The two-day event drew wide participation, with 682 camels from across the Sultanate competing in a spirited showcase of heritage and speed.
Today’s program featured 23 rounds: 14 races for the Hajjaj category over a distance of two kilometers and 9 races for the Laqaya category, stretching three kilometers.
In the Hajjaj category, notable victories included Mahafil owned by Hamoud bin Saeed Al-Maharbi in the first round, Shaqra owned by Hilal bin Hamad Al-Junaibi in the second, and Shaheen owned by Obaid bin Muslim Al-Junaibi in the third. Other winners included Marsa, Al-Fayda, Nasi, Al-Shababiya, and Al-Shamaliya. Later rounds saw triumphs from Qamari, Al-Dhabi, Mablish, Mankhaf, Arab, and Manoufra.

In the Laqaya category, the Royal Camel Corps secured first place in the opening round with Iftitah. Other top performances came from Al Tayyara owned by Ibrahim bin Saud Al-Darei, Nasnas owned by Rashid bin Saeed Al-Mashaykhi, and Hadath owned by Saeed bin Rashid Al-Ghailani. Victories were also claimed by Al Musk, Sallab, Tamweel, Zarij, and Qamari.
The first stage of the season concludes tomorrow with 12 additional rounds across the categories of Idaa, Thanaya, Haul, and Zamoul. Organisers expect another day of close finishes as competitors vie for early-season honors in Oman’s premier heritage sport.
