GAZA : The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has raised alarm over the severe humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, saying families are grappling with soaring costs of basic goods while being left without income for nearly two years.

In a statement posted on social media, the agency said that prices of essential items have reached “extortionate” levels, placing even the most basic needs beyond the reach of ordinary families. It warned that already overcrowded shelters are struggling to accommodate those displaced by the ongoing conflict.

“Spaces are already overcrowded and hard to find. After nearly 2 years of war people have not had incomes. Let us bring in our aid,” UNRWA said, renewing its call for unimpeded humanitarian access.

The agency has repeatedly appealed to the international community to allow the entry of relief supplies, stressing that the blockade and continuous escalation have left civilians facing desperate conditions.
