GENEVA – In a post on the social media platform X, the UNHCR stated that a second tragic incident had occurred off the coast of Tobruk, with the boat carrying 74 people. “Only 13 survived and dozens remain missing,” it added.
This incident comes just days after another maritime tragedy off Tobruk, where 50 Sudanese migrants lost their lives and 24 others were rescued, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
Libya’s coasts often witness disasters, especially in the summer, when boats carrying migrants meet with tragedies.
