MUSCAT – The Board of Directors of the club stated: “Sur Sports Club follows with deep regret the insolent statements made by a person with limited understanding in a sports program about the club, which is a towering entity and one of the biggest clubs in the Sultanate, with a long history of local championships and Gulf achievements that have carved a prestigious position for it in the annals of Omani football.”

The club, one of the most prominent institutions in Omani football, emphasised its historic contributions to the sport in the Sultanate and the region, highlighting its record of local championships, Gulf achievements, and its role in producing generations of players who have served national teams with distinction.

In the statement, Sur Club rejected the commentator’s questioning of the club’s status, describing the remarks as a “desperate attempt by individuals with limited understanding and ability, seeking to create a fuss at the expense of the big clubs.” It further criticised the program for abandoning professional standards, accusing it of bias and slander instead of neutrality and credibility.

“Sur Club is not just a passing club, but a football school that has produced generations of stars, has given a lot to the national teams, and has remained present in major competitions, writing its history with the efforts of its men and the dedication of its loyal fans,” the statement read.

As a result, the club announced its complete boycott of the sports programme in question until an official apology is issued to the club and its supporters. The club also reaffirmed its right to pursue legal action against any future attempts to defame its reputation, history, or standing.

The statement concluded by reassuring fans that the club is in a strong position, with loyal leadership and support, and remains committed to upholding its legacy as a pillar of Omani football.

“The name of Sur will remain high among the greats, while the hateful voices fall on the margins of history,” the club affirmed.
