DOHA : The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has condemned in the strongest terms the recent Israeli strike on Qatar, describing it as a “flagrant violation” of sovereignty and a direct challenge to regional security.

In a communique issued following an extraordinary session of the Supreme Council held alongside the Arab-Islamic summit in Doha, the GCC affirmed its complete solidarity with Qatar and pledged support for “all measures it takes to confront this attack.”

The Council underlined that the security of Gulf states is “indivisible,” stressing that any assault on one member constitutes an attack on all, in line with the GCC Charter and the Joint Defence Agreement.

To reinforce its collective stance, the Supreme Council announced that GCC military bodies will convene urgently to review the defensive posture of member states. It further instructed the Unified Military Command to take executive measures aimed at activating joint defence mechanisms and Gulf deterrent capabilities. No details were provided on the steps under consideration.

The statement also warned that Israel’s aggression undermines Qatar’s ongoing diplomatic efforts, including mediation for a ceasefire in Gaza, the release of hostages and detainees, and relief for the Palestinian people.

The extraordinary session reflected heightened concern across the Gulf that the attack could mark a dangerous escalation with implications for regional peace and stability.
