DOHA : Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Monday welcomed leaders and representatives of Arab and Muslim countries as he opened the emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha.
In his opening remarks, Sheikh Tamim said the summit was convened following what he described as the “major aggression” that targeted Hamas leadership in Qatar. He stressed that the attack shocked citizens and residents alike, not only because it constituted a violation of the sovereignty of a state and a breach of international law, but also due to its nature as a “cowardly aggression.”
The summit brings together heads of state, senior officials, and representatives from across the Arab and Islamic world to discuss urgent developments in the region and chart a unified response.
