DOHA: Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani condemned what he described as the international community’s “double standards” toward Israel’s actions, as Doha on Sunday hosted a preparatory meeting of Arab and Islamic foreign ministers ahead of an emergency summit.

The gathering comes in the wake of Israel’s deadly strike on a residential compound in Doha said to have targeted senior Hamas figures. Sheikh Mohammed called the attack “state terrorism” and warned that it undermines ongoing mediation efforts led by Qatar alongside Egypt and the United States.

“We are witnessing a dangerous precedent where international law is selectively applied. The silence and double standards of some powers only embolden further violations,” he said, urging Arab and Islamic nations to adopt a unified position against what he described as blatant aggression.

Officials at the preparatory meeting discussed a draft resolution expected to be adopted at Monday’s Arab-Islamic summit, condemning the strike and affirming solidarity with Qatar. The final text will also call for protection of mediation efforts and a reaffirmation of international conventions that shield civilians and diplomatic initiatives from attack.

The wider summit is anticipated to serve as a platform for collective Arab-Islamic pressure on Israel, while also sending a message to global powers about the need for accountability and restraint in the escalating conflict.
