SOCHI : The meeting took place on the sidelines of the eighth session of the GCC–Russia strategic dialogue, a framework launched in 2011 to boost political, economic, and security coordination. According to a statement by the GCC General Secretariat, discussions focused on reinforcing Gulf-Russian relations, implementing the joint action plan for 2023–2028, and accelerating mechanisms to deepen collaboration.
Both leaders underscored their support for expanding relations “to broader horizons,” with the aim of serving the shared interests of the peoples of both sides.
Secretary-General Al-Budaiwi praised Russia’s position on Middle East developments, particularly its call to end the conflict in Gaza and protect the Palestinian people. He also highlighted Moscow’s condemnation of a recent Israeli military operation carried out on Qatari territory, describing it as a dangerous escalation.
