DOHA : United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived in Doha on Wednesday, just a day after an Israeli airstrike struck the Qatari capital targeting Hamas officials, in a visit seen as a strong gesture of solidarity with Qatar.

The trip, which was not announced in advance, comes at a critical moment as the Gulf states move to show unity following the attack. According to officials, Jordan’s Crown Prince Hussein is also due in Doha, while Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is expected later this week, underscoring a coordinated regional response.

The Israeli strike on Tuesday marked an unprecedented escalation, hitting a residential area of Doha and killing senior Hamas figures. The attack has drawn widespread condemnation across the Arab world, with Qatar vowing that its mediation efforts in the Gaza conflict will continue despite the assault.

The UAE president’s presence in Qatar highlights the political and diplomatic weight Gulf states are placing behind Doha. Analysts say the string of high-profile visits reflects both a message of defiance to Israel and a reaffirmation of Gulf Cooperation Council solidarity at a time of heightened instability.

While details of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed’s discussions with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani were not immediately released, the visit is expected to focus on regional security coordination, humanitarian aid for Gaza, and joint diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the crisis.

The back-to-back visits by Gulf leaders also signal a recalibration of regional diplomacy, with Doha emerging as a focal point of international attention following the attack.
