MUSCAT — As the rare total lunar eclipse unfolded across Oman on Sunday evening, Muslims across the country gathered in mosques to perform Salat Al Khusuf, the special prayer offered during lunar eclipses in accordance with Islamic tradition.

The two-rakʿah prayer, observed with supplication, charity, and remembrance of God, is regarded as a time of humility and reflection on the majesty of creation. Worshippers in mosques across Muscat, Sohar, Salalah, and other governorates joined together in congregation, marking the celestial phenomenon with devotion and reverence.

The blending of science and spirituality gave the night a unique atmosphere — while sky watchers marveled at the eclipse, the faithful turned to prayer, reinforcing the cultural and religious significance of such cosmic events in the Sultanate.
