MUSCAT : In a major boost to Oman’s digital transformation drive, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) has introduced a new service that allows business owners to transfer commercial registration (CR) ownership entirely online.
The service, launched during the Sustainable Business Environment event, is now available through the Oman Business Platform. In its first phase, it covers one-person companies and sole proprietorships, making the process of transferring ownership faster, safer, and more transparent.
Officials say the initiative is part of a broader plan to digitise all commercial transactions, helping investors save time and costs while ensuring smooth and secure operations. By moving away from paper-based procedures, the government aims to align with international best practices and strengthen investor confidence in Oman’s business climate.

Said bin Juma Al Salmani, Commercial Register at MoCIIP, described the move as a “qualitative leap” for Oman’s business sector. “Our priority is to simplify procedures and deliver modern services that meet the needs of investors. The introduction of electronic authentication for CR ownership transfers marks just the beginning. We are committed to expanding this system to cover all types of commercial activities,” he said.
The new service supports Oman Vision 2040 by creating a sustainable, flexible, and investor-friendly environment that encourages innovation and growth across the private sector.
