BEIRUT : According to a UNIFIL press release carried by Lebanon’s National News Agency, the incident occurred yesterday morning when four bombs were dropped near peacekeepers engaged in clearing access to a UN position southeast of the town of Marwahin.
“One bomb fell just 20 meters away, while three others landed around 100 meters from our personnel and vehicles,” the statement said, adding that drones were later seen returning south of the Blue Line.
The attack prompted UNIFIL to immediately suspend the work, citing safety concerns for its forces. The peacekeeping mission stressed that it had previously informed the Israeli army of its planned activities in the area.
