Austin – After almost two months away from race action, Oman’s Ahmad Al Harthy is fired up for the resumption of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) this weekend (6–7 September) at the famed Circuit of the Americas (COTA).
Returning to Texas for only his second appearance at the ‘Lone Star Le Mans’, Al Harthy is determined to make amends for unfinished business from last year. In 2024, he and team-mates Valentino Rossi and Maxime Martin were cruelly denied a podium when a power steering failure ended their charge just 15 minutes from the flag, despite fighting through the LMGT3 field from 15th on the grid.
This year, Al Harthy lines up in the No. 46 BMW M4 LMGT3 alongside Rossi and Kelvin van der Linde, and the Team WRT trio are eager to turn resilience into results. After a challenging run of recent races—most notably retirement at Le Mans following an electrical issue while running in the top two—the squad bounced back in Brazil with a hard-earned top-10 finish.

With optimism high, Al Harthy is focused on converting strong pace into silverware in Austin:
“It’s great to be back in America with a positive mindset. Last year we were so close to the podium before the steering issue, so this time the focus is firmly on fighting for that top step. COTA is a fantastic circuit, very unique, and if everything runs smoothly, I believe we have the package to deliver a strong result for Oman.”
The Omani driver continues to be proudly supported by OQ Group, Sohar International, Omantel, Oman LNG, BMW Oman, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, and Experience Oman.
Schedule: Free practice begins on Friday, 5 September, with further sessions and qualifying on Saturday. The six-hour Lone Star Le Mans starts at 13:00 local time on Sunday, 7 September.
