MUSCAT – Oman’s delegation was led by Honourable Mohammed bin Salem Al Harthy, member of the State Council.

The session was officially opened by H.E. Malick Ndiaye, President of the National Assembly of Senegal, in the presence of members of the Union’s General Secretariat, representatives of the Executive Committee, and participating delegations.

The meeting’s agenda included the election of the Union’s vice-presidents for the Arab and Asian groups, a review of the General Secretariat’s reports from previous meetings, and the adoption of agendas for upcoming sessions of the standing, specialised, and sub-committees, along with the scheduling of their locations and dates.

The meeting featured interventions from representatives of the participating delegations, who addressed the most prominent issues and challenges facing the Islamic world, most notably the Palestinian cause. They emphasised the need to unify efforts to halt Israeli aggression and its ongoing violations, and to strengthen efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region.

The meeting aimed to enhance coordination of parliamentary positions among member states, promote legislative and oversight cooperation in support of Islamic causes, and reinforce values of dialogue and collective action in facing regional and international challenges.
