Muscat: More than 854,000 students returned to classrooms across the Sultanate of Oman today as the new academic year 2025/2026 officially commenced in 1,303 public schools spread across the governorates.
According to the Ministry of Education, the total student body this year includes 430,461 male students and 424,079 female students. They are supported by a teaching workforce of 66,386 educators—20,788 male and 45,598 female teachers—reflecting the nation’s strong commitment to education.

The Ministry emphasized that the start of the academic year has been carefully planned, with efforts to ensure a smooth transition for both students and staff. Alongside traditional classroom teaching, the new year also brings enhanced initiatives in digital learning, interactive classrooms, and mobile science labs, which aim to enrich the student learning experience and align with Oman’s educational modernization drive.

In addition, preparations were made in coordination with schools to provide students with safe and conducive learning environments. Infrastructure improvements, new equipment, and expanded use of technology are expected to play a central role in shaping the education process this year.
Officials highlighted that this academic year will also see greater focus on innovative teaching methods, teacher training, and performance development programs, ensuring that Omani students continue to receive high-quality education in line with the nation’s Vision 2040 goals.

The Ministry extended its best wishes to students, teachers, and parents for a successful year ahead, noting that education remains a cornerstone of Oman’s progress and future development.
