WASHINGTON : The U.S. State Department confirmed that Congress had been notified of the deal, which covers equipment and services to maintain Ukraine’s Patriot air defense batteries as well as the Starlink satellite internet network.
According to the announcement, $179.1 million will go toward sustaining Patriot systems, considered vital to countering Russia’s missile and drone strikes. An additional $150 million will fund Starlink communications services provided by SpaceX, which play a crucial role in securing battlefield communications and drone operations.
The announcement follows Washington’s approval of another $825 million package on Thursday, which included long-range missiles and related equipment to strengthen Ukraine’s defensive capabilities.
