Muscat: Pakistan secured the spot after finishing runners-up at the FIH Hockey Nations Cup in Malaysia earlier this year. Although New Zealand won the tournament, the Black Sticks later declined the invitation to join the Pro League, paving the way for Pakistan’s inclusion under tournament regulations.

FIH President Tayyab Ikram welcomed Pakistan’s return, calling it “a truly impactful milestone for world hockey.” He added, “Their return marks not only the comeback of a team with such a rich and storied history, but also an exciting boost to the visibility and reach of the FIH Hockey Pro League.”

For the first time, Pakistan will feature in the “League of the Best,” joining hockey powerhouses Argentina, Australia, Belgium, England, Germany, India, Netherlands, and Spain. They will replace Ireland, who were relegated after finishing ninth last season.
