Islamabad: A spokesperson for Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) confirmed that the evacuation efforts began even before the latest Indian warning and remain ongoing. Around 35,000 residents had already moved voluntarily following earlier alerts, while army units have been deployed to assist in rescue and relief operations.
The Ravi, Sutlej, and Chenab rivers are currently experiencing moderate to heavy flooding, with officials warning that more rainfall is expected in Punjab and Pakistan-administered Kashmir in the coming hours.
The NDMA has urged residents in vulnerable areas to remain cautious and cooperate with local authorities to minimize risks as floodwaters continue to rise.
