MUSCAT : The expansion project marks a strategic enhancement of OQ’s production portfolio and supports the company’s vision of developing sustainable energy.
The company began work on this project after awarding the contract on January 10, 2024, followed by the start of construction work in March 2024. The station produced its first batch of crude oil in less than 18 months.

This early commissioning underscores the high level of coordination, planning, and technical execution that characterised the project from its inception to its completion. The project was executed by Enerflex as the main contractor, with Majees Technical Services and Special Technical Services as subcontractors.
The station is designed to increase the capacity of the previous station to approximately 447,000 barrels per day of well fluids, including the capacity to process crude oil up to 37,000 barrels per day, in addition to 410,000 barrels per day of produced water.

The expansion project saw a workforce of 1,200 workers during the peak period between February and June 2025, contributing to the achievement of 3 million working hours without a single lost-time injury. Additionally, the project achieved 2 million kilometres without any vehicle accidents, ensuring the company adheres to health, safety, and environmental standards across all its operations.

This project contributed to enhancing local added value, with total local spending amounting to RO 24.6 million, focused on small and medium enterprises, goods manufactured in the Sultanate of Oman, and local suppliers. The local value programme also includes the training and employment of 23 Omani graduates.

From a construction perspective, a total of 486 foundation piles, each 12 meters deep, have been completed to support the reservoir infrastructure. The project’s largest reservoir has a capacity of 27,784 cubic meters (equivalent to approximately 147,700 barrels) of produced water, and is 48.7 meters in diameter and 14.8 meters high.

The produced water treatment unit includes a 15-meter-high, 22-meter-diameter gas-fired treatment tank. The project also includes the main well fluid separation vessel, which is 27.5 meters long, 4.6 meters in diameter, and weighs 145 tons.
A thermal treatment and desalting package was also added to the oil field, with a daily capacity of 40,400 barrels, in addition to a prefabricated power distribution station. To support oil reservoir management, four water injection pumps were added, each with a capacity of 1,130 cubic meters per hour, consuming approximately 4 megawatts of energy per pump.
