MUSCAT – The workshop, a part of the National Capacity Building Program in the Space Sector, is aimed at developing national talent in advanced space applications and remote sensing technologies.
Registration for the programme is open until August 27, 2025, with the workshop scheduled to take place from September 7 to 11, 2025 at Majan Academy in Al Khoud 7.

This intensive training aims to develop technical skills in satellite applications – in line with Oman Vision 2040 – and support the development of small and medium-sized enterprises operating in the space sector. The workshop focuses on three main topics:

1. Use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools via QGIS to analyze urban expansion, manage water resources, and map environmental information.
2. Satellite image analysis using Python by applying machine learning algorithms.
3. Operation of ground stations by simulating satellite data reception.
   Participants will engage in practical, real-world applications relevant to Oman, including monitoring port congestion, analysing thermal data in Muscat, and exploring satellite datasets from NASA and Sentinel archives.
   Objectives:
4. Master QGIS for the analysis of spatial data.
5. Utilising machine learning on satellite imagery to drive actionable insights.
6. Operation and maintenance of satellite ground station systems.
7. Crafting solutions for essential sectors in Oman.
8. Advancement of technical proficiency (IEEE GRSS accredited).
   Registration conditions:
   The candidate must possess Omani nationality.
   The candidate should have a specialization or interest in space sciences, applications, and satellite image analysis.
   The participant is required to commit to completing the program within the designated timeframe.
   Proficiency in the fundamentals of the Python programming language and geographic information systems is essential.
