MOSCOW : In an official statement, the ministry said Russian troops had taken control of the villages of Sredny and Klepan-Bek, both located in Donetsk. The announcement comes amid Russia’s ongoing offensive to consolidate control over territories it declared annexed in 2022, including Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhia.

Since the conflict erupted in February 2022, Russia has sought full authority over these regions, despite international condemnation and Ukraine’s refusal to recognize the annexations.
