Muscat on top as Oman’s real estate trading tops RO 3.37 billion in 2024

The total value of real estate trading in Oman reached RO 3.38 billion in 2024, according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

MUSCAT : Muscat Governorate recorded the highest trading value, with RO 1.25 billion, followed by North Al Batinah at RO 877.8 million, Al Dakhiliyah at RO 380.7 million, and South Al Batinah at RO 359.4 million. Dhofar posted RO 216.7 million, while smaller values were recorded across other governorates, with Musandam at RO 12.1 million marking the lowest.

In contrast, the number of building permits, including new and renewed, fell by 16.4%, from 43,701 in 2023 to 36,517 in 2024. North Al Batinah led with 6,664 permits, followed by South Al Batinah (6,478) and Muscat (6,236). Residential permits accounted for the majority, totaling 28,789, while commercial, industrial, and other categories represented smaller shares.

Despite the decline in permits, building completion certificates rose sharply by 41%, reaching 23,743 compared to 16,834 in 2023. North Al Batinah again led with 5,458 certificates, followed by South Al Batinah (4,289), Muscat (3,548), and Al Dakhiliyah (3,142).
