MUSCAT – The ROP warned that driving in dusty weather poses a significant risk to both the driver and others on the road. Motorists are advised to:
• Maintain a safe distance between vehicles
• Reduce vehicle speed
• Use front and rear lights
• Pull over safely if visibility becomes too poor
In addition to dusty conditions, the ROP highlighted the dangers posed by heavy rains across Dhofar. Referring to alerts from the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre, pointed out the risk of flash floods, rising water levels in wadis and springs, and the flow of valleys and ravines.
“The Royal Oman Police calls on everyone to be careful and adhere to public safety instructions; not risk driving during heavy rains and to stay away from valleys and water springs in various parts of Dhofar Governorate,” the alert stated.
