MUSCAT – The hackathon is part of a broader initiative to promote governance and transparency, and support efficient management of investment resources across the governorates.

The launch of the hackathon will coincide with a national symposium on governance, focusing on its role in protecting public funds and enhancing institutional transparency. Hosted by the SAI in Dhofar Governorate at the end of August, the symposium and hackathon reflect a unified effort to broaden dialogue and drive innovation in public governance and sustainable development.

The hackathon embodies the Authority’s commitment to promoting the principles of transparency and integrity, improving performance efficiency in the public and private sectors, expanding the scope of participation, and motivating various groups – from senior leaders to innovative youth – to find practical solutions that contribute to developing the governance system and stimulating effective investment in the governorates.

This is in line with the priorities of Oman Vision 2040, particularly those related to the governance and institutional performance axis, which aims for a balanced and sustainable partnership and integrated roles between stakeholders from the public and private sectors, as well as the civil society, and individuals, ensuring effective institutional performance.

The hackathon also aligns with the International Anti-Corruption Day 2024–2025 campaign under the theme “Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity”. The campaign emphasizes the role of youth as “guardians of integrity” and highlights their potential in building a corruption-free future.

The hackathon aims to provide an innovative platform that brings together researchers, stakeholders, and specialists in the fields of technology, economics, and management to develop practical solutions and ideas that contribute to raising the efficiency of investments and enhancing their sustainability.
It is expected to witness broad participation from government, private, and academic institutions, as well as youth technical teams. Participants will compete to propose pioneering, practical digital projects, contributing to the development of the local investment ecosystem and achieving added value for the national economy.
