MUSCAT – The projects are part of the Governorates Development Programme, which aims to enhance natural resources, stimulate tourism, and improve the quality of life for residents.

The developments will feature public facilities, seating areas, pedestrian walkways, and decorative lighting in areas with distinct natural characteristics, including mountainous locations with panoramic sea views. These efforts aim to promote the sustainable use of natural sites for tourism and recreation while preserving the environment and its natural balance.

Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Baouin, Director General of the General Directorate of Projects and Technical Affairs at Dhofar Municipality, pointed out that the Eftalquot Viewpoint project in Salalah has reached a 30 percent completion rate. The project, with an investment of RO 992,000, includes the construction of rest areas, restaurants, and a walkway, in addition to landscaping and public facilities for visitors in a mountainous location overlooking the sea.

He explained that the municipality has begun implementing the second phase of the Shaat Overlook development project in the Wilayat of Rakhyut, which attracts visitors and tourists throughout the year. This project, which has achieved a completion rate of 32 percent, includes rest areas, public facilities, and viewpoints from the foot of the towering mountain overlooking the Arabian Sea. With an investment exceeding RO 1 million, it also features parking areas and beautification works.

In the Wilayat of Dhalkut, preparations are underway for the development of the Dim Viewpoint project at an estimated cost of RO 346,00. It features public facilities, seating areas, parking spaces, as well as sidewalks, and beautification works.

These projects are being implemented in coordination with the relevant authorities by taking into account the geographical identity of each state. While development projects in Salalah are being implemented at locations overlooking the sea, highlands, and seafronts, in Rakhyut they are coming up in areas surrounded by mountainous formations and pristine nature. Work in Dhalkut is focused on developing coastal views and rest areas that suit the tranquil nature of the region.

Meanwhile, Dhofar Municipality continues construction work on a public park project in the Niyabat of Shahab Asaib in the Wilayat of Rakhyut. The RO 468,000 project is 55 percent complete.

Through these projects, Dhofar Municipality seeks to enhance the tourism and entertainment appeal of the governorate’s wilayats throughout the seasons, enabling local communities to benefit from these sites within an integrated development vision that is aligned with the objectives of the Governorates Development Programme.
