MUSCAT : Data released by the National Center for Statistics and Information showed that the increase was primarily driven by a significant rise in associated gas production, which surged by 11.4 percent to reach 6.255 billion cubic metres, up from 5.616 billion cubic metres in the first half of 2024.
In contrast, non-associated gas production (including imports) declined by 2.5 percent to 21.437 billion cubic metres by the end of June 2025, compared to 21.985 billion cubic meters by the end of June 2024.
At the consumption level, industrial projects recorded a 5.3 decline decline in gas usage, consuming 13.814 billion cubic metres by June 2025, down from 14.593 billion cubic metres in the same period of 2024.
Gas use in power plants increased by 1.6 percent to 7.288 billion cubic metres by the end of June 2025, compared to 7.288 billion cubic metres by the end of June 2024.
Data also showed that gas consumption in oil fields, including industrial zones and Oman Mining and Oman Cement companies, grew by 13.1 percent, reaching 6.455 billion cubic meters by the end of June 2025, compared to 5.709 billion cubic meters during the same period in 2024.
Gas used in industrial zones grew by 9.4 percent, reaching 136 million cubic meters by the end of June 2025, compared to 124.3 million cubic meters during the same period in 2024.
