Muscat: Located in the Sohar Industrial Port and spanning 180,000 square meters, the refinery is the first of its kind in the Middle East and is equipped with cutting-edge technology. It has an annual production capacity of up to one million tons of high-quality refined white sugar, serving local, regional, and international markets.

Chairman of the Board, Nasser bin Ali Al Hosni, told the Oman News Agency that the sugar is being unloaded directly into the refinery’s automated warehouses using mobile cranes and advanced conveyor systems. The facility boasts a massive storage capacity, over 500,000 metric tons for raw sugar and 70,000 metric tons for refined white sugar.

Following the recent completion of construction and the successful connection of gas supplies from OQ Group, the refinery is entering its trial phase. Smelting operations are set to begin in August, with commercial white sugar production expected to launch by September.

Al Hosni emphasized that the refinery will offer significant employment and training opportunities, particularly for Omani youth and technical professionals, while also supporting the development of the local supply chain and industrial capabilities.
