WASHINGTON – He also confirmed plans to hold summit talks with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung at the White House within the next two weeks.
South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported that the U.S. President announced the agreement after meeting with South Korean Finance Minister Ko Yeon-cheol and a number of Korean negotiators.
Under what he called a “full and comprehensive” trade agreement, Trump said South Korea would provide $350 billion in investments to US-owned and controlled companies. He also stated that Seoul would fully open its markets to trade with the United States, and that it would accept U.S. products, including cars, trucks, and agricultural goods.
He added that the agreement includes a South Korean pledge to purchase $100 billion worth of liquefied natural gas (LNG) or other U.S. energy products, along with a significant unspecified investment.
