ACCRA – The Ghanaian Ministry of Health reported 23 new confirmed cases over the past week, bringing the total number of recorded cases since June 2022 to 257, the highest weekly increase since the outbreak began.

“The situation is under control,” said Ghana’s Health Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, stressing the importance of “early detection and responsible behaviour” to limit the spread of the disease.
Figures released by the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last week revealed more than 47,000 confirmed cases of the virus and 221 deaths across the continent since January 2024, with at least 27,000 of these cases recorded in 2025.
