KUWAIT : The closures, which span several governorates, are part of a targeted campaign to eliminate regulatory violations in the pharmaceutical sector. Officials revealed that the affected pharmacies were not under the management of licensed professionals, directly breaching Kuwait’s national healthcare laws.
The inspections were personally supervised by Minister of Commerce and Industry Khalifa AlAjeel and Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi. According to the ministries, “clear and alarming indicators” were uncovered during field visits, prompting immediate legal action including license revocations and referrals to the Public Prosecution.
This isn’t the first time Kuwait has taken such action. In 2023, a similar campaign led to the closure of 60 pharmacies, a move later upheld by Kuwait’s Court of Cassation, reinforcing the government’s legal mandate to enforce compliance in the healthcare sector.
