Moscow: Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed an order ending the agreement, originally established in 1996, which had governed military-technical cooperation between Moscow and Berlin. The decision was announced through a document published on Russia’s official legal information portal.

The move, made under Article 37 of the Federal Law on International Treaties of the Russian Federation, brings to an end an accord that was signed in Moscow on June 14, 1996. The agreement had a five-year duration and was automatically renewed unless either party opted to terminate it.

Russian authorities confirmed that the Foreign Ministry will officially notify the German government of the decision to withdraw from the pact.

The termination comes amid increasingly strained relations between Russia and Germany, particularly in light of geopolitical tensions and differing positions on global security and defense matters.
