DUBAI : His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation, has approved the Human–Machine Collaboration (HMC) classification system—a groundbreaking framework that enables content creators, researchers, and publishers to disclose the degree of machine involvement in their work.
The classification system was developed by the Dubai Future Foundation and is being mandated for adoption across all Dubai Government entities in their research and knowledge initiatives. The system introduces five primary icons to represent varying levels of collaboration—from “All Human” to “All Machine”—depending on how much of the content was generated or assisted by intelligent machines.
In addition to the primary labels, nine functional icons allow creators to specify where machine involvement occurred in the workflow—such as ideation, data analysis, writing, translation, visuals, or design.

The new framework does not quantify the exact percentage of machine contribution but encourages creators to disclose collaboration based on their best judgement. Intelligent machines are defined broadly under this system to include generative AI, algorithms, robotics, automation tools, and other digital technologies.
Sheikh Hamdan also called on global creators—researchers, writers, publishers, and designers—to adopt the system and use it responsibly for the benefit of all.
