London: World No. 1 Iga Swiatek added another milestone to her glittering career with a flawless performance on Centre Court, dismantling American Amanda Anisimova in just 48 minutes to claim her sixth Grand Slam title. The scoreline — 6-0, 6-0 — marked the first time in the Open Era that a player has achieved such a feat in a Wimbledon final and the first time overall since 1911.
Anisimova, 23, had stunned the tennis world with her semi-final upset over top seed Aryna Sabalenka but appeared overwhelmed in her first-ever Grand Slam final. Swiatek, composed and clinical from the outset, barely put a foot wrong as she dictated every rally and broke serve in all six of Anisimova’s service games.
The 23-year-old Polish champion now adds Wimbledon to her growing list of triumphs.
