Muscat: In line with Oman’s digital transformation strategy and commitment to international best practices, the Ministry has launched a number of advanced electronic platforms that are revolutionizing the way business is done in the Sultanate. At the forefront is the “Oman Business” platform, a comprehensive hub offering over 377 services—from registering commercial records to intellectual property management—streamlining procedures for investors, business owners, and entrepreneurs.

This unified platform, integrated with 17 government entities and exchanging data with 35 others, has transformed licensing with 328,215 automatic licenses issued since April 2021, enabling 89% of activities to be licensed without prior approvals. Innovations like AI-driven “Know Your Customer” verification and the “Investment Guide” simulator further enhance the investor experience.

Complementing this is the “Invest in Oman” platform, which has attracted OMR 5.38 billion in applications since February 2023, localizing 43 projects worth OMR 2.25 billion in sectors such as renewable energy, food security, and health. The platform connects investors with real-time information, strategic zones, and key stakeholders.

Supporting the national product drive, the “Made in Oman” platform showcases over 5,000 products from 380+ factories, connecting SMEs with procurement opportunities and increasing employment across production and marketing. It’s part of a broader push to enhance local supply chains and reduce import reliance.

E-commerce credibility has been strengthened through the “Ma’arouf Oman” platform, which authenticates licensed online stores. Since launch, it has recorded a 236.4% growth in registered stores, encouraging consumer trust and digital retail expansion.

Oman’s quality assurance efforts are reinforced by the “Hazm” platform, which manages conformity certificates and technical standards. To date, 333 conformity certificates and 3,789 energy efficiency cards have been issued, bolstering national product standards and supporting SME innovation.

Meanwhile, Sanad Service Centers—now numbering 920 across Oman—handled over 872,000 transactions in 2024 alone and created 2,365 jobs, 60% of which are held by women, empowering youth and rural communities alike.

On the export front, the “Oman Exports” platform has emerged as the world’s first interactive export hub, streamlining international trade, connecting exporters with global buyers, and enhancing Oman’s non-oil export footprint.

According to Mubarak bin Mohammed Al Dohani, Director General of Planning and Head of the Ministry’s Digital Transformation Team, these platforms are central to Oman’s strategy for a knowledge-based economy. They enable data-driven policy, enhance local industry visibility, and offer market intelligence tools that support smarter production and export decisions.

With AI, biometrics, and real-time analytics embedded into services, Oman’s platforms reflect a future-focused governance model. The Ministry has also fulfilled its obligations under the National E-Commerce Plan, with a 100% completion rate for its initiatives under the Diversification program.

Looking ahead, the Ministry is enhancing user-focused design, improving AI integration, and continuing its mission to empower investors and youth.
