DUBAI: Dubai is set to roll out a revamped Contractor and Engineering Consultancy Rating System by 2026, introducing a broader and more integrated framework to assess the performance of contractors and engineering consultancies.

According to Dubai Municipality, the new system will rely on a more comprehensive set of performance indicators that cover technical capabilities, quality of project execution, regulatory adherence, and commitment to sustainability. The changes are designed to promote greater accountability, transparency, and excellence within the construction industry.

In a parallel development, the Licensing and Professional Practice Registration Committee has imposed six-month suspensions on two engineering consultancy offices for violating ethical standards and professional regulations. The firms, whose names were not disclosed, will be barred from applying for permits for any new projects during the suspension period.

The municipality emphasized that such violations risk undermining trust in the construction sector and could jeopardize the interests of property owners and developers. The disciplinary action reflects Dubai’s firm stance on upholding the highest professional standards in the industry.
