Tehran: The Iranian Ministry of Transport and Urban Development confirmed on Thursday that eastern Iranian airspace is now open to international flights transiting the region, along with domestic and international operations at selected airports in eastern cities.

Ministry spokesperson Majid Akhavan emphasized that the decision is part of a phased plan to restore normal flight operations while maintaining rigorous safety and security standards. Among the airports cleared for operations is Mashhad Airport, a major hub in northeastern Iran.

The announcement follows heightened tensions that erupted in the early hours of Friday, June 13, when Israeli occupation forces launched a large-scale attack on Tehran and several other Iranian cities. Iran retaliated with missile strikes targeting the occupied territories.
