Muscat – The attack came just hours after U.S. President Donald Trump announced a “complete and total ceasefire” between the two nations.

The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) reported this as the sixth wave of missile attacks from Iran, stating that it detected multiple missile launches from Iran in the early morning hours and issued immediate warnings for residents across southern Israel to seek shelter.

The timing of the missile barrage has cast a shadow over President Trump’s ceasefire declaration, which he touted on his Truth Social platform late Monday. “On the assumption that everything works as it should, which it will, I would like to congratulate both Countries, Israel and Iran, on having the Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence to end, what should be called, ‘THE 12 DAY WAR’,” Trump wrote.
A senior White House official had indicated that Trump brokered the ceasefire deal in a call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, with Israel agreeing on the condition that Iran ceased further attacks.

However, an Iranian official had earlier confirmed Tehran’s agreement to a ceasefire, but with a crucial caveat. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated early Tuesday on X (formerly Twitter) that there would be no cessation of hostilities unless Israel stopped its “illegal aggression” against the Iranian people by 4 a.m. Tehran time (0030 GMT) on Tuesday. He added that the “final decision on the cessation of our military operations will be made later,” suggesting a phased approach.
