LEEDS: The incident occurred on Day 3 of the opening Test at Headingley when Pant visibly expressed frustration after umpires declined a request to change the ball. Despite checking it with the ball gauge, the officials ruled the ball fit for play. In protest, Pant threw the ball to the ground in front of the umpires—an act deemed inappropriate under the ICC’s Code of Conduct.

Pant’s reaction has now attracted a formal reprimand from the ICC for breaching Level 1 of the Code, specifically for showing dissent at an umpire’s decision.

Pant impressed with centuries in both innings, emerging as a key figure in India’s batting lineup during the crucial Test.
