DOHA: Advisories issued by embassies in Qatar to their respective citizens are part of “general policies” and don’t reflect the security situation in the country, Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari, advisor to the Prime Minister and Minister and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Qatar, said on Monday.

In a statement to the Qatar News Agency (QNA), Dr Al Ansari stressed that the security situation in the country was stable, and that the relevant authorities were closely monitoring the situation and were ready to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of citizens, residents, and visitors.

The statement comes after US embassy in Qatar urged Americans citizens to take shelter.

“Out of an abundance of caution we recommend American citizens shelter in place until further notice,” the embassy said.
