Muscat: The Ministry’s Internal Investment Committee is calling on local companies and investors specialising in software sector to submit proposals for the development of office software applications for word processing, presentations, and spreadsheet management, based on open-source technologies.
The Ministry indicated that these applications should be ready for deployment and use across various workplaces and meet general standard office requirements in different work environments, particularly within government entities.
This initiative aims to support technology localisation efforts and enhance national digital sovereignty. As per the plan, the government intends to purchase licenses for a specified period, in accordance with the outlined terms.
Investors interested in development of desktop software applications based on open-source technologies are requested to submit their applications no later than July 20, 2025.
