WASHINGTON – U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth revealed in a post on the X platform that he had ordered the deployment of additional military capabilities to the US Central Command (CENTCOM) area of responsibility.

He noted that these reinforcements are intended to secure and strengthen the defensive posture in the region, but did not reveal the nature of the military capabilities he ordered to be deployed.
For its part, the flight tracking website Air Nav Systems reported that more than 31 US Air Force refuelling aircraft, most of them KC-135s and KC-46s, departed the United States on Sunday evening, heading east.

This comes as tensions between Israel and Iran escalate to the level of open war, with both sides exchanging missile strikes.
