Stockholm : In front of a home crowd and his entire family, the 25-year-old Olympic champion bettered his previous mark by a single centimetre on his very first attempt. The moment marked his first-ever world record set on Swedish soil, making it a particularly emotional and significant feat.

Duplantis, who has consistently pushed the limits of his sport, described the achievement as “magical,” likening the experience to winning Olympic gold. He revealed that setting a record at Stockholm’s iconic stadium had long been one of his dreams.

Australia’s Curtis Marshall put up a strong effort, clearing 5.90 metres, but fell short of the six-metre bar after three attempts.

The night also saw a stellar performance from Dutch hurdler Femke Bol, who dominated the final 100 metres of the women’s 400m hurdles to clock a season-best 52.11 seconds and clinch victory.
