MUSCAT – Under the banner ‘Safe Summer’, the Ministry emphasises that prolonged or repeated exposure to high temperatures can lead to a range of persistent health issues beyond immediate discomfort.
Some of the long-term symptoms of heat stress are:
- Chronic fatigue or persistent exhaustion even after exposure ends
- Sleep disturbances
- Reduced physical and mental performance
- Difficulty regulating body temperature with recurring heat sensitivity
- Irregular blood pressure or heart rate
- Impaired kidney or heart function over time (in severe or repeated cases)
- Increased risk of cardiovascular diseases due to repeated heat stress.
