WASHINGTON : In an interview with Fox News host Bret Baier, Trump emphasized that the US was not involved in Israel’s recent strikes on Iran but made clear where Washington’s support lies. “Iran cannot have a nuclear bomb, and we are hoping to get back to the negotiating table. We will see. There are several people in leadership that will not be coming back,” Trump said, according to Baier. He added that the US would step in to help defend Israel if Iran were to retaliate.

The strong pro-Israel stance was echoed by Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson, who posted on social media: “Israel IS right – and has a right – to defend itself!” His message was accompanied by an image of the Israeli flag, underscoring unwavering Republican support for Israel’s actions.

Meanwhile, international concern continues to rise. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the growing military escalation in the Middle East. In a statement by his spokesperson Farhan Haq, Guterres called for “maximum restraint” and warned against a “descent into deeper conflict.” He also expressed alarm over Israeli attacks on Iranian nuclear installations, especially as diplomatic efforts between Tehran and Washington remain in progress.
