Muscat – The walkway will connect the historic Nakhal Fort with Ain Al Thawara Park, spanning a distance of 3 kilometres, passing by several springs, aflaj and agricultural villages adjacent to Wadi Nakhal, adding aesthetic value to the wilayat.
His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Saleh Al Busaidi, Wali of Nakhal, emphasised that the project aims to enhance the tourism appeal of the region and highlight Nakhal’s natural and historical beauty.
He added that the walkway will be implemented in several phases, with the first phase being one kilometre long, followed by the remaining phases.

He explained that the project’s cost, including the associated service facilities, is expected to exceed RO 1 million, as it will be equipped with lighting, stone or interlocking tiles, and a number of public facilities.
He further pointed out that local farm owners along the route will be supported in establishing tourism-related ventures, such as green lodges, cafes, and electric tourist transport services linking Nakhal Fort with Ain Al Thawara. These initiatives aim to both reduce traffic congestion in the park and create employment opportunities for residents.
The main committee supervising the project held its first meeting to approve the work plan and form sub-executive committees to begin implementation.
