SENEGAL : The defeat marks the end of England’s short unbeaten run under new manager Thomas Tuchel, while Senegal extended their own streak to 24 games without a loss.

The match at City Ground began brightly for the hosts as captain Harry Kane opened the scoring in the 7th minute. The goal came after Edouard Mendy parried away a shot from Anthony Gordon, only to spill it into Kane’s path for a simple tap-in.

But Senegal, unfazed, grew into the game and responded before halftime. Ismaila Sarr capitalized on a lapse in England’s defense, slipping behind Kyle Walker to turn in a low cross from Nicolas Jackson in the 40th minute — the first goal conceded under Tuchel’s reign.

In the second half, the visitors tightened their grip. Habib Diarra broke through England’s backline in the 62nd minute, collecting a long ball over the top and slotting it through Dean Henderson’s legs to make it 2-1. England’s hopes of a comeback were dashed when a late equalizer from Jude Bellingham was ruled out for a handball in the build-up.

Cheikh Sabaly sealed the deal for Senegal deep into stoppage time with a third goal, sparking wild celebrations on one end and boos on the other as England fans voiced their frustration.

Senegal were dominant throughout, registering nine shots on target to England’s four. Henderson was kept busy, including an early save to deny Sarr’s header. England, who had made 10 changes from their previous match against Andorra, struggled to find rhythm, and Gordon missed a golden chance to double the lead in the first half.

The result not only ends England’s unbeaten streak but also puts pressure on Tuchel to regroup ahead of more competitive fixtures.
